Dr Russell Evans is an artist and author.
Writing
As an author, Evans has written two books about filmmaking for US publisher Focal Press (Routledge in UK) and written widely for magazines in the UK about filmmaking and media.
Practical DV Filmmaking (Routledge; 2002, 2nd ed. 2005, Spanish translation 2006)
Stand Out Shorts (Routledge; 2010, Spanish translation, 2012).
His PhD was achieved in visual poetry and conceptual diagrams (2022)

Background
Evans was born in Cardiff. He now lives in Devon, England, with his partner and children and teaches creative writing and arts at University of Plymouth.

Research interests
Evans researches into trauma poetry; text entropy theory with poetry; and artificial intelligence with creative writing.
He is co-organiser of Poetry and Care, a conference at University of Plymouth, 7-8 September, 2023.
Currently engaged in research into social prescription of creative work in Plymouth.
